MANTEO, N.C. (WAVY) — The Outer Banks SPCA on Wednesday worked to reopen its doors after it was flooded on Tuesday.
The shelter said on Facebook said rains from Monday “brought the flooding right back up” Tuesday, forcing it to close for the day.
One day later, the shelter happily posted on Facebook that the building was “high and dry!” The shelter also thanked members of the community who pitched in and offered to foster animals during the flood.
We had so many offers of foster that we are still sorting through. If we haven’t gotten back to we apologize and please know that we appreciate your offer and your patience.
Images shared by the shelter showed the flood waters in many areas of the shelter, including areas where some of the cats are housed.
The shelter noted Tuesday its Kitten Palooza — scheduled for Wednesday night, and including free adoptions — would still go forward as planned. This was further evidenced by an adorable video the shelter posted on Wednesday.
