VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — One of the unique events that will be coming to the Something in the Water Festival, is a “Pop-up Church.”

National artists, along with around two dozen local churches will also be a part of it.

We asked Bishop Ezekiel Williams, who’s part of Faith World Ministries and Pharrell Williams’ uncle, about how this came together.

“Pharrell Williams is a member of our congregation, my nephew, and were honored to work with him with the pop up church,” said Bishop Williams.

He says the pop-up church started with a conversation with Pharrell.

“Pharrell understands his mission, he knows the hand of God is upon his life, and he has a responsibility, because of the favor and influence, he has to bring people together for positive change in our community,” Bishop Williams said.

Bishop Williams says there will be pastors preaching the gospel, bishops and pastors doing specific prayers, and there will also be gospel music.

Jerrod Williams is the music director over at the New Testament Church that will also be part of the event.

“We will be singing our choir will be there, it will be a joint choir, people will be singing, praise dancing that’s ministry,” said Jerrod Williams.

Jerrod believes this church service will be influential.

“It gives kids something to do, it gives them an outlet to go to.”

The event is free and open to the public.

Bishop Williams expects thousands to show up to the event.
