PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Police in Portsmouth are investigating six attempted commercial robberies that all happened within a few hours on Monday.
Police spokesman B.K. Hall provided the following information on the times and locations of the attempted robberies:
- 10:42 a.m. – Hot Zone in the 2600 block of Airline Boulevard,
- 10:58 a.m. – Vapes in the 4500 block of George Washington Highway,
- 11:25 a.m. – First Virginia Check Cashing in the 2000 block of Victory Boulevard,
- 12:39 p.m. – American Cash Express in the 3800 block of George Washington Highway,
- 12:44 p.m. – Next door at the Hannah Nail Salon – report of man with a handgun demanding money
- 1:46 p.m. – Check in to Cash in the 2800 block of Airline Blvd. – report of man with a handgun trying to gain entry to the business.
Nothing was taken from any of the businesses.
Police say they suspect the same person is responsible for all six incidents and they believe he acted alone. The suspect is described as wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants and was armed with a handgun. He fled in an unknown direction.
