Police: Man shot during home invasion in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was shot during a home invasion in Norfolk Thursday morning, police say.

Norfolk police said officers were dispatched to a home the 8000 block of Thompson Road for a report of a person shot around 9:15 a.m.


Responding officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said his injuries were not considered life-threatening. 

The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he is expected to be OK.

Police believe the man who was shot lived at the home.

A police spokesperson said Little Creek Elementary School went on a self-imposed lockdown Thursday morning. The lockdown has since been lifted.

The circumstances surrounding the home invasion were not immediately clear.
