Why are you running for this office?

We are blessed to live in such a wonderful community as Poquoson that became the way it is by the grace of God and the work and sacrifice of countless Poquoson citizens and public servants to whom I owe a debt of gratitude. I feel an overwhelming sense of duty to do my best for others as others have done for me and to contribute to a prosperous future for our city.

What is your view on growth management in your community?

Maintain our city’s indefinite viability and sustainability through thoughtful, well-planned and managed growth and development to provide for investments in our school system, public safety and well-being, and city services to maintain a safe, pleasant, independent small-town community atmosphere. Our Comprehensive Development Plan provides guidance for growth and development and is based on input from a citizen’s survey.

What is your view on taking money from individuals who will likely have business before the municipality?

During my first two election campaigns in 2016 and 2020, I did not solicit or accept monetary donations. Likewise, during the 2024 election campaign, I will not solicit or accept monetary donations. I do not want any perception that I am beholden to anyone for money.

How will you still value constituents with whom you disagree with?

I appreciate and respect that each person is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs. I view disagreements and differences of opinion as learning opportunities and welcome advice and guidance from anyone willing to share theirs with me. Because I am a collaborator and consensus builder, it is not unusual for me to adjust my perspective after discussions with others.
