RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) — A North Carolina candidate for state superintendent is receiving national news coverage over social media posts that appear to call for violence and evoke extreme rhetoric.

Republican Michele Morrow describes herself on her website as a “lifelong Christan conservative.” She has worked as a nurse, missionary and child advocate and has 16 years of homeschooling experience. She is running against Democrat Mo Green for North Carolina state superintendent.

The Hill and CNN reported on several comments Morrow made in the past that appeared to call for violence against former President Barack Obama and other Democrats.

“I prefer a Pay Per View of him in front of the firing squad,” Morrow said of Obama in a May 13, 2020, post on X, formerly Twitter. “I do not want to waste another dime on supporting his life. We could make some money back from televising his death.”

Left-leaning outlet Media Matters for America reported on her use of QAnon-linked hashtags like “#WWG1WGA,” which stands for “Where we go one, we go all,” and “#SaveTheChildren.” The outlet also addressed Morrow’s references to conspiracies about adrenochrome, election fraud and vaccines often promoted by QAnon.

On March 27, 2020, Morrow replied to an article titled “Where has Jim Carrey been?” on X, writing, “From the look of him, searching for Adenochrome (sic).”

An anonymous self-identified parent created a website entitled “Michele Morrow for NC Superintendent of Education?” compiling screenshots of the candidate’s social media posts in an effort to convince readers to “say no to MAGA extremists.”

Michele Morrow was at the Capitol on Jan 6 at the direction of former President Trump. She believes public education is ‘socialist’ and calls teachers ‘groomers.’ She believes that children in special education ‘can’t compete with able-bodied students’ and should ‘just focus on learning life skills.’  She refers to people with cognitive disabilities or delays as (‘r——–‘). She believes that public schools need to be run on ‘Biblical principles,’” the website reads.

The website references an X post from Sept. 6, 2020, in which Morrow said, “Our public educational system is a powerful, tax payer funded arm of the Democratic Socialist Party. They have been indoctrinating our kids against God and America for decades !”

Political sign issue

The website shares a screenshot of what appears to be a Cary police report filed by an anonymous citizen alleging that Morrow’s husband was seen taking down an opponent’s political signs and replacing them with her signs. On the page for her previous Wake County Board of Education campaign, Morrow allegedly said that someone had taken her signs down and replaced them with her opponents and that her husband was putting her signs back.

FOX8 has requested the police report from the Cary Police Department.

It is a misdemeanor by North Carolina law for someone other than the owner of a political sign to take down or damage a sign in any way unless the sign has been up for more than 30 days after the conclusion of an election. After 30 days, political signs are deemed abandoned property.

Moms for Liberty

Orange County’s branch of Moms For Liberty, a conservative political organization designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group, has backed Morrow’s run for state superintendent, stating they have worked with her in the past.

On the Orange County Moms For Liberty Facebook page, the group describes itself as a “watchdog organization over local school districts made of moms, dads, grandparents and taxpayers.”

Social media

Multiple times on social media, Morrow has voiced concerns about a Satanic agenda and alleged that transgender people and Islam are linked to larger conspiracies.

Satan

On Jan. 21, 2019, on X, she described someone identified only by the name Alyssa as a “minion” of Satan. Preceding posts have since been deleted, and it is unclear who she is describing.

“Alyssa is not Satan…just a minion of his,” Morrow said. “Being manipulated and used by him, along with all of the liberal lunatics who are demanding the murder of children, praising the psychological disorder of gender confusion, promoting pediphelia (sic) and spewing hate! Satan is real.

Islam

On Jan. 7, 2020, Morrow called Islam a cult on her X account, writing, “Islam is not a religion, it is a political cult. … Ban Islam. Ban Muslims from elected offices.”

Gender

While advocating for a bill to ban puberty blockers and other gender-affirming healthcare for anyone under 18 in North Carolina, Morrow claims that “Big Pharma” is behind the existence of transgender people in a conspiracy to “make our children unable to reproduce.”

“The medical community is being lured into these practices through political threats and promises of huge cash payouts,” she said. “This is a disgusting plan of Big Pharma to make our children unable to reproduce and permanent patients, dependent on pharmaceuticals for their entire lives and needing multiple surgeries to deal with the painful and dangerous repercussions of trying to achieve an impossible goal of changing their God-given gender.”

There is no evidence available that medical practitioners get paid to tell children they’re transgender. False claims of North Carolina hospital systems giving gender-affirming surgeries to toddler-age children last year was refuted in an Associated Press fact check. ECU Health released a statement that said, in part, “ECU Health does not offer gender surgery to minors nor does the health system offer any gender transition care of any kind to toddlers. We are deeply concerned by the intentional spreading of dangerous misinformation resulting in violent threats against our health system, team members and providers. Our primary concern is the safety of our team members and those we are honored to serve.”

She also shared a similar opinion on X, posting, “Biology Fact….Those who use hormones to manipulate their bodies will NOT be able to reproduce. Result = Gender Transitions are Incompatible with Human Survival.”

According to the National Institute of Health, “cross-sex hormones” have the potential, though no guarantee, to impair future reproductive functioning through possible azoospermia and amenorrhea. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology recommend that clinicians counsel their transgender patients on fertility preservation options before starting puberty-suppressing medications and gender-affirming hormone therapy.

New World Order

Morrow referenced the “New World Order” conspiracy theory in a response to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on X:

“If you encourage non citizens to vote, refuse to deport violent and perverted immigrant criminals, and collude with members of the One World Order to destroy America, you are a traitor and deserve to be punished as such” in response to a post Clinton made stating “If you make it a crime to give voters water as they wait in line, you’re not pro-democracy.”

The term “one world order” appears to be a malaphor of “New World Order” and “one-world government,” both tenets of a largely antisemitic conspiracy theory that claims that the entire world, except America, is or will be ruled by a single government, often with prominent families like the Rothschilds or Soros at the helm. The conspiracy claims that prominent, largely Democratic politicians and donors are “globalists” who are working to bring America into the New World Order.

She has referenced globalists in at least one previous post, writing on X: “The DEEP STATE globalists and Muslim extremists, intent on destroying America, placed Omar and MANY others into our govt.”
