PORTSMOUTH,  Va. (WAVY) — It’s a lip sync more than three weeks in the making.

The Portsmouth Police Department  on Thursday premiered its entry in the #LipSyncChallenge at the Commodore Theatre, before releasing the video online.

This comes after the department was challenged on Aug. 8 by Chesapeake.

The video — which clocks in at over six minutes — features hit songs including “Let’s Get It Started” by the The Black Eyed Peas, “Pep Rally” by Missy Elliot and “Bad Boys” by Inner Circle.

Portsmouth has challenged the Arlington and Alexandria police departments.

The #LipSyncChallenge became a massive phenomenon over the summer, with countless departments attempting to one-up each other with all kinds of different lip sync videos.

Norfolk’s extremely popular video went viral nationwide — even getting a mention on NBC Nightly News.
