VIRIGNIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Publix is scheduled to open in Virginia Beach just in time for some holiday grocery shopping.
The announcement was made back in May 2023 that the Florida-based supermarket chain would be coming to the resort city. Now, we have an expected date.
The new grocery story is expected to have its grand opening on Dec. 12 at General Booth Boulevard, said Jarad Glover with Publix Supermarkets.
The store is more than 49,000 square feet and will employ 140 associates. This will be the third location in Hampton Roads, with one already in Suffolk and another in Williamsburg.
There’s also a location in Kill Devil Hills and more are scheduled to be built locally, including in Isle of Wight County and Chesapeake.
Norfolk had a planned store, but there’s been no updates on its progress.
