Recall issued for Snapchill canned coffee products due to botulism risk

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Snapchill LLC has issued a voluntary recall on their canned coffee products due to a possible botulinum toxin contamination.

According to the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Snapchill issued a recall on all canned coffee products manufactured by them, as the companies current process could lead to the growth and production of botulinum toxin within their low acid canned foods.


The FDA states that botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning which can cause general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble speaking or swallowing.

The products were sold under a variety of brand names and in a variety of metal can sizes ranging from seven ounces to 12 ounces. All impacted products will have “Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC” underneath the nutrition facts panel.

Snapchill LLC stated the FDA notified them that the process for manufacturing their low acid canned foods was not filed with the FDA.

No injuries have been reported to-date.
