So this title may seem a bit misleading, I’m not just saving the weekend but rather the weekend planner. Part of my daily duties here at WAVY are collecting events and updating the content for the weekly weekend planner. Up until now, that’s been all I had to do with it. This meant I was scouring Facebook, other weekend planners and WAVY’s own calendar for events that would work on the weekend planner. While I’m still doing that, I’ve also undertaken the project of updating the look of the planner.

Using a program called Brackets, I was able to import HTML code from a weekend planner template that kind of matched the look we were going for. From there I was able to modify what it looked like and make sure that it met WAVY’s weekend planner needs. Throughout this process, I have been able to use tools that I learned from a class a few semesters ago on HTML and CSS. It was really cool to be able to make my own mark on an essential part of the HrScene website. When that first email goes out this weekend, hopefully, it will house my code and our new design.

In other news, Olympic coverage is still going strong. Every day I get to keep myself up to date with the most recent news of this 2018 Olympics. I am continuing to format and spell check each story on the WAVY website. Doing this keeps my editing skills and visual eye sharp. It is similar to the work I do with my own home publication. I spend a lot of time just making sure things look right and I have to say that this is one of my favorite parts of the job. Editing and monitoring content makes me feel as though I’m keeping WAVY up to their high standards of content. There will be no spelling errors on my watch.
