Tramonte Hines

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The second man charged in connection to a 2010 murder in Virginia Beach has pleaded guilty.

Murphy was killed after she walked in on an alleged robbery at the Jr. Market on South Lynnhaven Road on Dec. 19, 2010. Prosecutors said Hines shot Murphy twice in the back when she tried to run.

Hines’ co-conspirator, Alex Jenkins, was initially charged in connection Murphy’s death, but a jury cleared him of murder in March 2018. Jenkins is now serving a 35-year sentence for several other charges, including robbery.

Hines is scheduled to be sentenced July 1.
