NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Norfolk police say they’re investigating a homicide after finding a man shot inside a vehicle Thursday night at the intersection of East Little Creek Road and Tidewater Drive.
Police originally responded to the area just after 9:30 p.m. for a reported crash in the 700 block of East Little Creek. When police arrived, they found a man inside the car suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died. Police later identified the man as 25-year-old Patrick M. Cochrane, of Suffolk.
Police believe the man was originally shot in the 7900 block of Orchid Avenue, but was found roughly 200 feet away in the 700 block of East Little Creek.
Police also wanted to point out an earlier police report of a man walking into Sentara Norfolk General was inaccurate and not a separate incident. The man in the East Little Creek crash didn’t walk into the hospital, police confirm.
Police say they’ll release the man’s name after his family is notified. They ask anyone with info on the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
