CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Three adults have been displaced after their home was damaged in a fire near Oak Grove Lake Park on Sunday.
Chesapeake Fire Officials say they received the call for the fire in the 400 block of Kings Gate around 6:15 p.m. When crews arrived five minutes later, they saw a two-story, single-family home with flames coming from the second floor.
The fire was brought under control at 6:38 p.m. and fully extinguished after 7 p.m.
Fire officials determined that a discarded cigarette caused a fire outside, which spread into the home.
No one was injured and the displaced occupants are making their own lodging arrangements.
