VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Five people were aboard a fishing boat on Saturday afternoon when the vessel began to take on water.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m., the Coast Guard says they began to receive calls from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge area in reference to a large boat taking on water.
A U.S. Army vessel happened to be in transit near the area. Dispatch says they heard radio chatter for the vessel in distress and rerouted to assist.
The Army vessel was able to rescue all five passengers.
Coast Guard dispatchers say there were no injuries.
Coast Guard crews are currently working to dewater the boat in order to tow it away.
