VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach City Council on Tuesday plans to talk about regulations concerning short-term rental properties.
Ideas discussed in the past include limiting parking, the number of rentals per week and the maximum number of people who would stay in a short-term rental property at one time.
Some neighbors complained about loud parties and a shooting that happened at a rental property in 2016. Opponents argue problems are isolated, so all property owners should not be held responsible.
STORMWATER RELIEF
Council will also consider proposals to reduce flooding in the Ashville Park neighborhood at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Last month, council deferred signing off on improvements because they could not agree on the plan in place with the developer. Now, with more options, there’s hope council members will select a proposal this evening.
CANNABIS OIL
Also on Tuesday’s night agenda: The Virginia Beach Director of Economic Development with brief city council on Virginia’s new cannabis oil policies ahead of the meeting.
Gov. Ralph Northam signed a bill into law this year, which made certain oils accessible to Virginians.
Cannabis oil is used to help ease symptoms from several conditions — including epilepsy, cancer and chron’s disease. The law doesn’t legalize possession, but it does provide defense for patients and caregivers.
