VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach judge who was hospitalized following a crash on Jan. 6 has died.

Virginia Beach General District Court Judge Robert Hagans, 66, was in a coma following a two-vehicle crash on Northampton Boulevard, near Norfolk Premium Outlets. 

WAVY’s Jason Marks reports Hagans passed away on Jan. 17. 

Attorney Timothy Anderson told 10 On Your Side two days after the crash Hagans was a “very well-liked judge in Virginia Beach, well-known in Hampton Roads.”

Norfolk police said prliminary information showed Hagans was driving east on Northampton when he rear-ended the back of a another car stopped a traffic light.
