VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A string of car break-ins on New Year’s Eve is not the way some Virginia Beach residents want to ring in the new year. Overnight, more than a handful of cars were broken into at Columbus Station on Pinta Lane.
According to several residents, their windows were smashed and wallets, cash and cards were taken.
One resident tells 10 On Your Side he got a knock on the door from police around 3 a.m. Monday alerting him of the crime.
About 10 cars in the complex were broken into, although police say they have no information to share regarding the crime.
Residents say just last week, they received an alert from community management, asking them to keep all vehicles locked and remove any valuables from inside. It also said to report any suspicious activity to the police.
