BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police report a Blacksburg Town Council member has been arrested after four indictments that include election fraud were handed down from the Montgomery County grand jury.

According to VSP, state police initiated an investigation, at the direction of the Virginia Attorney General, in March 2024 into an allegation of election fraud of 24-year-old Liam Joseph Watson of Blacksburg.

VSP reports Watson turned himself in on Wednesday, July 24.

On July 23, the grand jury handed up three felony counts of election fraud and one felony count of illegally voting in an election against Watson.

Watson has been released on bond.
