PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said an investigation is underway after police shot and killed a man in Woodbridge on Wednesday night.
On July 31 around 8:20 p.m., police were called to the 3400 block of Caledonia Circle for a report of a suicidal person.
Police said a short time later, officers found the man, who they said was armed, at an acquaintance’s home near the 3000 block of Bromley Court.
For over four hours, officers completed numerous attempts to get him to surrender. As efforts continued into Aug. 1, police said around 5:30 a.m. officers made contact with the man and he was shot.
The name of the person has not been released, but police said he is 22 years old and from Woodbridge.
The police department said there was no threat to the community.
The PWCPD Chief, Peter Newsham requested the Critical Incident Response Team to oversee the investigation.
