RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Less than a week after a dog was found dead in a trash bag along Buttermilk Trail, a second dog has been discovered in the same area.

According to Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC), officers from the RACC went to Buttermilk Trail on Tuesday, April 30, to investigate and collect information regarding the dog that was found on Monday, when they discovered another dead dog in a trash bag.

RACC said that the bag they found yesterday was in a hidden spot that was tucked further from the trail and closer to the road. They assumed the dog was dropped from a car.

The trash bag was the same as the one involving a female dog found earlier in the week.

According to RACC, the dog that was found on Tuesday was a four-year-old male, brown Pitt with cropped ears. RACC shared that the dog looked to be dead for at least 24 hours.

RACC would like the public’s help in finding the person responsible for dumping the two dogs. Anyone with information about this tragic event is asked to contact RACC by phone at 804-646-5573 or by email at robert.leinberger@rva.gov.
