RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department says it informed the family of Keeshae Jacobs, who went missing in September 2016, of what investigators “now understand to be the tragic situation” that led to her death.
At 12:16 p.m. on Monday, Toni Jacobs, Keeshae’s mother, posted on Facebook saying that Keeshae “is no longer with us.”
The Facebook post also said that a memorial service will be held at Cedar Street Baptist Church in Richmond’s East End at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10.
“I would like to thank you for your love and prayers for the seven and a half years,” said Keshae’s mother in the Facebook post. “My heart is broken and so heavy right now.”
On the evening of Sept. 26, 2016, Keeshae, then 21 years old, told her mother that she was going to a friend’s home near Chimborazo Park in Richmond’s East End. Keeshae could not be reached the next morning and hasn’t been seen since.
Otis Lee Tucker, who has been named a suspect in Keeshae’s disappearance, is currently serving a life sentence in Florida in connection to the murder of a woman in Jacksonville in November 2022.
