ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — The organizer for the Star City Fishing Expo says planning and booking for the event is proceeding smoothly. The event will be held at the Berglund Center next February 7-9.

“t’s starting to fill up,” said Star City Fishing Expo organizer Jason Lane. “We have space for 150 vendors, so as we add on to what we have, it should be a spectacular event.”

The show will feature fishing tackle makers, tackle dealers, boat and watercraft dealers, fishing guides, fishing travel operators, toolmakers, fishing clothing dealers, and others. There will also be fishing seminars from experts.

In addition, there will be a trout pond to provide fishing for children, as well as a bass tank where professional anglers will conduct exhibitions.

Lane says sign-ups increased after Major League Fishing announced it will bring its all-star event to Smith Mountain Lake next spring.

“It gave us a boost.” said Lane.

The Star City Fishing Expo will be the first of its kind in years in the Roanoke area. In the past, anyone wanting to attend a large fishing expo in the winter had to drive to Richmond or Greensboro.
