STERLING, Va. (DC News Now) — Emergency crews were on the scene of a house explosion Friday night in northern Virginia that left one firefighter dead and 11 others injured, including nine firefighters.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was in the Silver Ridge Drive area.
The Sterling Volunteer Fire Company said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, its crews responded to a report of a gas leak around 7:30 p.m.
Later, around 8:30 p.m., crews from the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to reports of a structure fire.
