PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — It’s been a long week for some residents of the Myrtles at Olde Towne Apartments in Portsmouth.

“For like two, or three days now I haven’t showered,” said resident Daniel Gyabaah.  “It’s very, very hard to use it to even cook because it doesn’t flow.”

Daniel Gyabaah is one of the residents who hasn’t had water for nearly four days.

Many residents say they have no hot water and the cold water runs for minutes before shutting off.

“Can’t turn the shower head on, nothing is going to come out,” said resident William Culpepper.

They want to know when the water will get back to normal.

“I get home today, yesterday, I can’t shower, I can’t do anything,” said resident Joshua Trahan.  “I hope I get my water back and I can take a nice hot shower.”

10 On Your Side reached out to the property manager.  She says there was a water issue in downtown Portsmouth.  In a letter to residents, management said the water source has been interrupted.

A spokeswoman for the City of Portsmouth sent this statement:

“Over the past month, Public Utilities investigated concerns from citizens living in the Myrtles Apartments regarding low water pressure. In the previous investigations, Public Utilities confirmed the city was delivering water at sufficient pressures. Today, Public Utilities returned to the site and reconfirmed the delivery of sufficient water pressure. Also, Public Utilities notified the Myrtles maintenance staff that their private booster pump, after Dominion Power performed work on their property, was not reset. The Myrtles staff flipped their switch to correct this problem.”
