CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A woman was airlifted to the hospital late Monday morning after police say she was hit by a car in Chesapeake.

Police spokesman Leo Kosinski said officers and firefighters responded to the parking lot of a Dollar Tree off Portsmouth Boulevard around 11:40 a.m.

Kosinski said a driver turned down a lane to park, did not see the woman walking and hit her. The driver kept going over the woman, but eventually stopped and was cooperative with police.

Kosinski said the woman who was hit was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with multiple life-threatening injuries.
