SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A woman was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries after a single-vehicle accident on Route 58 Friday afternoon.
Emergency communications received a call about the accident just before 2 p.m. Suffolk Police say a four-door car had flipped over on the westbound side of Rte. 58 near the Downtown overpass exit.
Their preliminary investigation revealed the car left the road, stuck the guardrail, flipped over and then hit a tree. Police say the driver had to be extricated by Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews.
Police closed part of Rte. 58 to clean debris from the accident. The cause is still under investigation.
