VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A woman who attacked another driver in an incident of road rage has been sentenced to jail time.
Sara Espinosa, who was arrested in March of last year, was found guilty in September of unlawful wounding.
Virginia State Police said Espinosa got into an argument with another driver on Interstate 264, near Independence Boulevard, after the two nearly collided in a merge lane.
State police said Espinosa pulled out box cutter and stabbed the other driver. That person was taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
Espinosa was sentenced Tuesday to five years, with four years suspended — leaving one year to serve. She can petition the court for early release, but will still have indefinite supervised probation.
