DUCK, N.C. (WAVY) – A woman pulled from the surf in the Town of Duck Friday afternoon died two days later.

This was one of five ocean rescues near Bayberry Drive Friday.

Officials say they were dispatched to the beach access area at Bayberry Drive just before 3 p.m.

Duck Surf Rescue crews pulled all the victims from the water, but one woman was unresponsive. She was medflighted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in critical condition. Christian Legner with the Town of Duck confirmed she died on Sunday.

Public Safety officials urge beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard and to ask surf rescue personnel about ocean conditions near them.
