Interactive maps: U.S. Senate and House results

WAVY TV 10 is your local election headquarters for the November 5 General Election.

We’ll be providing live election results as they come in.

Balance of Power: U.S. Senate

The map below shows the Balance of Power and state-by-state results in U.S. Senate races.

Of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate, 33 are up for grabs this election, including one in Virginia. Republican challenger Hung Cao looked to unseat longtime incumbent Democrat Tim Kaine, but Kaine was projected to win early in the night.

A party needs 51 seats for a majority in the Senate. In the event of a 50-50 split, the vice president can cast a tiebreaking vote.

Balance of Power: U.S. House of Representatives

All 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives will be determined by voters, including 11 in Virginia. A party needs 218 seats for a majority in the House.
