PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — We’ll have the latest updates on local and national election results as they come in Wednesday below.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the candidates who’ve already won:

Democrat Elaine Luria defeated Republican Scott Taylor in their 2nd Congressional District race. The Associated Press called the race just before 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Other races that have been called: Democratic Senator Mark Warner won re-election in Virginia, Republican Rob Wittman retained his seat in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, Democratic Congressman Donald McEachin won his 4th Congressional District race and Democratic Congressman Bobby Scott won re-election in the 3rd Congressional District.

In North Carolina, Democratic Governor Roy Cooper also was re-elected, along with Republican Congressman Greg Murphy and Democratic Congressman G.K. Butterfield in the 3rd and 1st districts, respectively.

Norfolk and Portsmouth also voted to approve proposed casinos in both cities, joining Bristol and Danville as the first four cities to casino gambling in Virginia.

7:30 p.m. — President Donald Trump’s campaign filed lawsuits Wednesday in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Georgia, laying the groundwork for contesting battleground states as he slipped behind Democrat Joe Biden in the hunt for the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the White House.

4:30 p.m. – NBC News projects Joe Biden is the winner in Michigan. The state, which Trump carried in 2016 over Hillary Clinton by fewer than 11,000 votes out of over 4.5 million casts, has 16 Electoral College votes.

2:20 p.m. – Joe Biden is the projected winner in battleground Wisconsin, flipping the state which slipped away from democrats in 2016. The Associated Press called the race at 2:16 p.m. Wednesday.

2:10 p.m. — The Associated Press is reporting that the Trump campaign files a lawsuit in Michigan to halt the vote count, claiming it was denied access to observe opening of ballots.

1:30 p.m. — Virginia Beach mayoral candidate Jody Wagner has conceded to incumbent Mayor Bobby Dyer. With 99% reporting as of 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dyer had 110,247 votes for 51.9% of the vote, with 92,931 (43.8%) for Wagner. R.K. Kowalewitch got 9,082 votes (4.3%).

12:03 p.m. — Republican Scott Taylor has conceded after the AP called the Second Congressional District race for Rep. Elaine Luria.“Congratulations to Congresswoman Luria. Let us all hope that she is successful in her next two years as our representative in Washington.”

11:20 p.m. — Democratic incumbent Elaine Luria has defeated Republican Scott Taylor in their rematch in the Second Congressional District. The Associated Press called the race just before 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The count after 100% of the precincts reported showed Luria with 174,873 votes (50.94%) to Taylor’s 159,568 (46.49%).

10:15 a.m. — Democratic incumbent Elaine Luria still leads Republican Scott Taylor in their Second Congressional District race by more than 4%, 15,305 votes, with 100% of precincts now reporting. Wednesday. Provisional and absentee ballots are being counted now in Virginia Beach, Andy Fox reports.

10 a.m. — Pennsylvania resumed counting ballots at 10 a.m. Joe Biden recently went up in Michigan and would have enough electoral votes to win if his current leads hold.

9:06 a.m. — Joe Biden has just taken the lead in Michigan over President Donald Trump, the Detroit Free Press reports. 94% of the estimated vote count is in so far. Michigan is one of the key states Biden needs to win. He also has leads in Wisconsin, Arizona and Nevada. If he wins all four, he’ll have have 271 electoral voters, enough to win the presidency regardless of what happens in North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Georgia.

Biden: 2,487,838 votes — 49.3%

Trump: 2,484,138 votes — 49.2%

8:45 a.m. — The Associated Press has officially called the 4th Congressional District race for Democratic incumbent Donald McEachin.

McEachin got 59% of the vote over Republican Leon Benjamin, Sr.

8 a.m. — In the 7th Congressional District race in Virginia, Republican Nick Freitas is up by just 273 votes over Democratic incumbent Abigail Spanberger, 199,786 to 199,513, with 92% of the expected vote reported.

6:15 a.m. — Several races are still undecided in Virginia and North Carolina. Click here for the latest counts.
