PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Tuesday is primary day in Virginia, and WAVY has updates on all of the local races happening in Hampton Roads.

There are 10 different races total locally, with primaries for Republicans and Democrats in both Virginia State Senate and House of Delegates races.

9:45 p.m. — Christie New Craig has defeated Del. Tim Anderson and Jeff Bruzzesi in their 19th District State Senate Republican primary.

9:34 p.m. — The AP has called the 21st Senate District Democratic primary in Norfolk for Del. Angelia Williams Graves over Councilwoman Andria McClellan.

9:29 p.m. — More local primary races called by the Associated Press

  • Alex Askew beats Rick James in the 95th District House Democratic primary
  • Nadarius Clark defeated Michele Joyce in the 84th District House Democratic primary
  • Michael Dillender topped Rod Thompson II in the 84th District GOP primary

9 p.m. — Emily Brewer has defeated former NASCAR driver Hermie Sadler in their District 17 Republican primary, the Associated Press projects.

8:52 p.m. — State Sen. Louise Lucas has defeated state Sen. Lionell Spruill in their District 18 Democratic primary, the Associated Press projects.

Spruill said he called Lucas to concede. She didn’t answer, but he says “I want to wish her the best.”

8:45 p.m. — Alex Askew has won the Democratic primary for Virginia House District 95 over opponent Rick James.

8:30 p.m. — Andy Pittman is projected to win the Republican nomination for the 94th District (Ocean View area of Norfolk) in the House of Delegates.

8 p.m. — Incumbent state Sen. Joseph Morrissey has conceded to former state legislator Lashrecse Aird in their race for State Senate District 13, the Associated Press reports. The news is being celebrated by abortion rights advocates, as it appeared Morrissey, who calls himself “unapologetically pro-life,” would side with Republicans on new abortion restrictions in the upcoming legislative session.

7:58 p.m. — In the Richmond area, Democratic challenger Lashrecse Aird is up big on incumbent Joseph Morrissey, 5,352 to 2,266 in State Senate District 13 with half of localities reporting as of 7:58 p.m. NBC 12 in Richmond

7:49 p.m. – Del. Angelia Williams Graves is leading challenger Andria McClellan by more than 1,200 votes in their Democratic primary for the 21st State Senate District as of 7:49 p.m.

7:45 p.m. – State Sen. Louis Lucas is leading State Sen. Lionell Spruill, 2,286 to 1,996, as of 7:45 p.m. in their Democratic primary for Senate District 18. Only Portsmouth has reported so far. We’re still waiting on numbers from Spruill’s turf of Chesapeake.
