NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Norfolk Admirals haven’t been known as a second period team this year, but you wouldn’t have known that by watching them Friday night.
After falling into a one-goal deficit, the Ads answered back just minutes later off the stick of Kamerin Nault.
After Mark Liwiski and Denis Smirnov extended the Admirals lead, Newfoundland answered with two goals in the span of four minutes to tie the game at 3-3.
Just 1:42 into the first overtime period, Brady Fleurent notched the game-winning goal to give Norfolk the 4-3 win.
The Admirals will be back at home at 6 p.m. Saturday against the Growlers in game two of a four-game series.
