NORFOLK (WAVY) — Demolition crews have wasted little time in tearing down the clam shell sides of 82-year-old Foreman Field.

Part of the east side of the stadium was reduced rubble on Monday night.

The University will replace the outdated, depression era stadium with a $67.5 million rebuild that is scheduled to be ready for Old Dominion’s first home on August 31, 2019.

Stephen Ballard’s team at S.B. Ballard Construction have a lot of work to do in a relatively short amount of time, but coach Bobby Wilder believes Ballard will meet the deadline.

“I am 100 percent confident that Stephen Ballard will get the job done and this place will look incredible when we run out of that tunnel in 10 months.”
