VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Giving back to the Navy was something UVA catcher Ethan Anderson wanted to do for a long time.
“When I was receiving help from the Navy SEAL Foundation, I never thought I’d be able to give back,” said Anderson, who comes from a military family. “Being able to give back, I’m extremely grateful for my position because of baseball.”
Anderson’s father was also in the Navy, which led Anderson around the world when he was growing up. He was born in Hawaii, but also lived in Portugal and Italy before coming to Virginia Beach and attending Cox High School.
Since making a name for himself in the Name, Image, and Likeness era, Anderson has been able to receive paid partnerships with companies. He made $10,000 from those deals, and decided to donate every penny to the Navy SEAL Foundation.
“It’s something I wanted to do,” Anderson said. “With NIL, not knowing what it would turn into, 100% was the only way to go.”
