PARIS, France (WAVY) — Grant Holloway has said he is all about being consistent, and that’s exactly what he was today in Paris, winning his heat in the first round of the men’s 110-meter hurdles. Now he is on to the semifinals.

Running in the fifth of five heats, Holloway cruised to the finish line far ahead of his competition. The Chesapeake native crossed the line with a time of 13.01 seconds, the fastest time heading into the semifinals. Holloway said it felt good to be on the track for round one.

“Just being able to come out here, get your feet wet. Figure out what the track feels like, figure out what the atmosphere is like. You know you want to be able just to come out and continue, just execute, you know, your race pattern. I’ve been consistent all year with my time. So happy about that,” said Holloway.

Holloway expressed his excitement about having his parents, family, and friends present. He said he could also feel the energy in the stadium. “It’s beautiful and the crowd is electric – you know – 80,000 people in the stands… it’s like playing a football game. So I’ve always had dreams of playing in a football college stadium so I think this is my dream come true right now,” he shared.

As the semifinals approach on Wednesday, Holloway remains focused and energized by the support of the crowd and his loved ones.
