NORFOLK, VA (WAVY) — It was a clean sweep for the Norfolk State basketball teams today, as both the Men’s and Women’s Spartan squads took care of business against Morgan State.
In the early game, the Lady Spartans knocked off the Bears 62-45 behind Diamond Johnson’s 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 steals. It’s NSU’s third straight win. They’ll host Delaware State this Saturday, February 3, tipoff at 2 p.m.
And in the night cap, the men’s team took down the Bears 83-73. Christian Ings had arguably one of the highlights of the season with a nasty ankle breaker to open the game.
Morgan State did go on a bit of a run to open the second half, but Tyrel Bladen (17 points) Allen Betrand (16 points) and Jamarii Thomas (14 points) helped to hold off the late push, and nab the Spartans another win.
NSU will also tip off against Del State February 2. That game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
