WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Release via Tribe Athletic)– William & Mary baseball rounded out day two of the 2024 MLB Draft with a record-breaking pick. Joe Delossantos was selected by the New York Yankees in the 10th round at overall pick No. 301, marking the first time in program history the Tribe saw three selections in the top 10 rounds.
Leading the CAA with three of the league’s 10 draft picks, the Tribe helped to produce the highest number of top-10 rounders in conference history.
Delossantos joined teammates Nate Knowles and Travis Garnett among W&M players to hear their names called. The pair were selected in the fourth and eighth round, respectively.
With the Green & Gold’s final selection of day two of the draft, Delossantos became the 43rd pick in program history and the fifth in the previous two years.
For the fifth time since 2004 the Tribe have seen two or more players go in the top 10 rounds, and the team produced three or more draft picks for the sixth year since the 2003 season.
As fifth year in 2024, Delossantos produced an All-CAA season for his final campaign in the Green & Gold, landing him among the top 15 in 10 career categories. On single-season leaderboards, his 67 RBI in 2024 was the fifth-best in program history and his 14 home runs tied for eighth-most, both team-leading marks.
Delossantos paced the Tribe with a .584 slugging percentage, 129 total bases and eight sacrifice flies, and tied for the team lead with 73 hits. The outfielder also finished second on the squad with 55 runs and 14 doubles.
Over his five seasons with the Tribe, Delossantos solidified himself as a leader on and off the field, closing a storied W&M career with his name etched into program history.
