BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) — Chris Buescher is among the Cup Series drivers who are excited to see the Food City 500 return to concrete this weekend.
The No. 17 Fastenal Ford is on a hot streak to start the season…a pair of top-10 finishes in the first four races of the season, including a second-place run at Phoenix this past Sunday.
On top of his recent success, Buescher is a former winner, a sword-holder if you will, having won the Bass Pro Shops Night Race in 2022. He says that result and those since fill him and his team with confidence ahead of the race.
“I don’t know if it’s a fully-solved puzzle, but certainly further along than some others,” Buescher said. “It’s tricky, it’s a tricky place. I love that race track. I love how we have to go about it…with RFK stepping it up in the last couple of years, we’ve been in the hunt for not just Top-5s or Top-10s, but for wins. I fully expect us to be this weekend, as well.”
To be clear, Buescher said he doesn’t mind dirt racing. He just didn’t like it laid down on the World’s Fastest Half Mile.
