NORFOLK (WAVY) – As a national television audience watched on ESPNU, the Norfolk State and North Carolina Central game Monday night didn’t disappoint. As is often the case in this rivalry game, it came down to the wire as the Spartans won 80-74.

Monday nights win means the Spartans now have a two game lead in the MEAC standings with five regular season games remaining.

Jamarri Thomas had a game-high 28 points.

Down 30-26 at halftime, NSU outscored NCCU 54-44 in the second half.

The win moved the Spartans to 17-9 overall on the season and 6-2 in MEAC play.
