GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — For the first time this postseason, the Detroit Lions are underdogs heading into their next matchup. Oddsmakers have listed the San Francisco 49ers as 7-point favorites for Sunday’s NFC championship game.

The Lions have been favored in the team’s first two playoff games — its first two playoff wins since the 1991 season. Detroit were 3-point favorites when they hosted the Rams in the Wild Card Round and were 6.5-point favorites in Sunday’s 31-23 win over Tampa Bay.

According to the Action Network, the Lions do have one factor working in their favor. It seems oddsmakers have underestimated Detroit on the road all season.

“You’ll likely have heard about how much better Jared Goff plays at home, but the Lions were still 7-2 against the spread on the road during the regular season,” analyst Sam Farley wrote.

Still, Farley expects San Francisco to end the Lions’ historic postseason run this coming Sunday.

“As much fun as the Lions are to watch, I simply can’t see them keeping the 49ers at bay with a pass-funnel defense. The Lions allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game in the regular season and just let Baker Mayfield throw for 349 yards and three touchdowns,” he said.

The Lions will get their chance to prove it on the field Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. Kickoff for the NFC championship game is set for 6:30 p.m.
