LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOIN) — Las Vegas is known for its wild parties and nightlife, but when it comes to Super Bowl LVIII, it’s now strictly business, and both teams hammered that point home on Thursday.
The welcome mat is no longer rolled out for anyone who isn’t a part of the 49ers or the Chiefs. Thursday was the last day media members got to talk to players and coaches before Sunday’s game.
The main theme that was evident from Thursday’s availability? Focus.
In 49ers camp, it was described as another day at work.
Brock Purdy and company were going full speed Thursday after a light walkthrough Wednesday.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan says his quarterback is executing at a high level and praised the entire team for their focus despite the traveling circus around them.
“It’s about being ready for the big moments,” Purdy said.
A day after practicing without pads and helmets, the Chiefs were back to hitting Thursday. Things got a little feisty during practice, but the Chiefs are viewing that aggression as a hunger to win its fourth Super Bowl title in franchise history.
“At the end of the day, you prepare the same way. You still gotta go out and play the game in those white lines,” said Chiefs tackle Donovan Smith.
For Kansas City, guard Joe Thuney didn’t practice with a pec injury — head coach Andy Reid does not expect him to play. Running back Jerrick McKinnon, who’s on injured reserve, was limited in practice. Skyy Moore was activated off the IR list.
For San Francisco, tackle Trent Williams was out yesterday – he returned to the field today as a full participant.
