LAS VEGAS (KAMR/KCIT) — As the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs roll into Las Vegas to prepare for the Super Bowl game on Sunday, Usher is also preparing for a career highlight of his own — headlining the highly anticipated halftime show.

In the run-up to the event, fans have continued to guess which of the eight-time Grammy winner’s biggest hits will make it into the performance and which featured artists will make a cameo appearance during the global superstar’s set.

Usher recently spoke to Good Morning America about his upcoming halftime performance, explaining that his set will envelop the Black artists that came before him and that ultimately paved the way for him to establish his own voice in the music industry.

“It’s a major thing for me,” said Usher. “I think about what our country has kind of represented for Black artists, you know, having to at some point go through kitchens to even be able to perform for an audience, but they had to leave back through that same door, fear for their lives as they went to the next state to do the same thing. So I’m coming through the front door with this one.”

The game will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday and Usher will take the stage for his 13-minute set after the first half ends.
