INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Courtesy of W&M Athletics) — After earning the program’s first ever berth to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the William & Mary women’s basketball team received word that they will take on High Point in the First Four on Thursday, March 20, in Austin, Texas.
 
Both W&M and the Panthers are No. 16 seeds in the Birmingham 3 Regional, with the winner earning a date with No. 1 seed Texas on Saturday, March 22. Tip is set for Thursday with the game broadcast on ESPN2.

The Tribe won the program’s first CAA title on Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C., taking down No. 3 seed Campbell, 66-63.
 
The Green and Gold entered the week as the ninth seed in the CAA Championship, the lowest seed to ever make the title game, let alone win it all. The Tribe knocked off Hofstra in the second round before dropping No. 1 seed N.C. A&T in overtime, 74-66 in the quarterfinal.
 
W&M went on to roll past Drexel in the semifinal 76-54 before the title game thriller over Campbell on Sunday.
 
Bella Nascimento was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player for her historic 33-point and 11-rebound performance on Sunday. Monet Dance and Cassidy Geddes were named to the CAA All-Tournament team for their efforts in the four-game run.
