PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – As the City of Portsmouth provides road closure updates due to the Churchland Bridge Project, we will provide that information below.

The next closure of the Churchland Bridge is scheduled for Monday, April 17 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The bridge will be reduced to one lane, with alternating closures in both directions. There will be crews controlling the traffic flow.

According to the Department of Engineering, this particular closing is to allow crews to conduct work under the existing bridge.

They City says to follow information on the message boards for the most current information regarding closures.

The Western Freeway/West Norfolk Bridge is considered the alternate route while work is ongoing.

McLean Contracting is performing the work on the Churchland Bridge.
