NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — VDOT is advising motorist that I-64 east ramps in Norfolk will begin to close overnight as early as Monday. Feb. 12.

The closures are part of the Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) Norfolk Segment construction.

This will include full closures of the I-64 east and west on and off-ramps to Tidewater Drive north and south (exit 277) between Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 beginning as early as 8 p.m. and lasting as late as 5 a.m. All ramps will not be closed at the same time.

Signs will be in place to direct motorist along detour routes.

Once complete, the HREL Norfolk Segment will become a part of the 45-mile network of express lanes in each traffic direction on I-64, from east of Denbigh Boulevard in Newport News to the I-64/I-264/I-664 Bowers Hill Interchange in Chesapeake.

As always construction work is weather dependent and subject to change.
