NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A water main break that caused road closures Thursday on Monarch Way on ODU campus has been repaired and water service has been fully restored to affected buildings.
Westbound West 43rd St. between Monarch Way and the Constant Center 43rd Street Garage entrance will stay closed until permanent repairs are made to the road, which is planned for early next week. Drivers are asked to observe detour signage and use caution when traveling through the aera.
According to an ODU alert sent out to students Thursday afternoon, the city informed the school that to repair the break, water valves had to be shut off in the surrounding area.
Water services were disrupted at the Barry Art Museum, Innovation Research Park II, Chartway Arena, and the Mitchum Basketball Performance Center. Residence halls and dining facilities were not affected.
Pedestrian access will be maintained on the north side of Monarch Way. Motorists are being asked to use Hampton Blvd. and Killam Ave. as alternative routes.
It is unknown at this time when the roads will reopen.
