The 71st Portsmouth Invitational Tournament tips off Wednesday at Churchland High School.

The last week of April into May was a busy one for Virginia Beach police when it comes to announcing arrests of young people with guns. On April 29, they listed 53 people arrested and 28 guns seized during spring break weekend.

On May 2, police identified five people charged in the same homicide, four of them aged 21 or younger, in connection with the April 4 shooting death of Joshua Rice, 20.

Just after 1pm on Tuesday afternoon, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake occurred 5 miles south of Dillwyn, Virginia in Buckingham county. The small quake was felt by residents not just in Virginia but in parts of North Carolina, Maryland, and even Pennsylvania. Luckily, there have been no reports of damage or injuries due to the earthquake.

A man has died following a Monday night shooting in Hampton.
