The largest food drive in Hampton Roads is now officially underway!
Friday kicked off the 28th annual Mayflower Marathon, put on by FM99 and 106.9 and sponsored by the Hampton Roads Show. Each year, the drive raises thousands of pounds of food and money for many local foodbanks.
The area's largest medical group is teaming up with a growing community college to fill needed healthcare jobs, and students who are a part of the program are thankful for the help.
The Virginia Department of Health and the state of Virginia partnered to create the Earn to Learn grant, which pays up to $500,000 to state colleges in underserved areas, and Sentara Health is partnering with Paul D. Camp Community College to take on those who receive the grant to give them the real-world experience they need.
