WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the White House Thursday night just hours after Special Counsel Robert Hur released his report, which did not recommend criminal charges against the president for mishandling classified documents.

President Biden says the special counsel made the right decision not to recommend criminal charges, but then went on to slam the report in a fiery response.

“I was pleased to see he reached a firm conclusion that no charges should be brought against me in this case,” said Biden.

The report included photos of classified Afghanistan documents at President Biden’s Delaware home and other records at his former office in Washington D.C.

The special counsel criticized the president, saying he willfully retained and disclosed classified materials when he was a private citizen.

“These assertions are not only misleading. They’re just plain wrong,” Biden said.

During his address, Biden also fired back at the special counsel for suggesting he did not remember when his son Beau died.

“I don’t need anyone. I don’t need anyone to remind me. When he passed away or passed away,” he said.

The report comes at a time when former president Donald Trump is facing criminal charges accusing him of illegally keeping classified records in his possession.
