WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Biden will sit down for his first interview since last week’s debate.

The president is still facing questions about his ability to serve a second term.

The president again said he is not dropping out of the race despite growing calls for him to step aside from members within his own party.

Eight days after his debate performance left many of his supporters concerned he’s not fit to serve or even run for a second term President Biden tried to reassure voters in battleground state Wisconsin he’s up to the task.

I’m running and I’m going to win again!” said Biden/

Wisconsin Democratic Governor Tony Evers and Congressman Mark Pocan joined the president’s event

“Everybody’s fired up,” said Evers.

Notably missing, Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin who is up for re-election.  Her campaign says she scheduled campaign events weeks in advance.

California Governor Gavin Newsom on the other hand is out front stumping for the president.  He spent his Fourth of July in Michigan, another critical swing state.

“Joe Biden, regardless of time of life, has a quality of imagination where he’s delivered more than any president in my lifetime in just three and a half years,” said Newsom.

The president’s campaign is trying to focus on the president’s legislative accomplishments.

It remains unclear if today’s scripted speech will have much sway with voters.
